4-H Animal Training Demonstration

4-H Animal Training Demonstration

6:30 pm

Have you ever heard of clicker training? Dog trainers have been using clicker training techniques for years. Today, most all show dogs are trained using these techniques.

Candee Bishea has agreed to do a demonstration on clicker training for our 4-H youth.

We will do this at her house tomorrow at 6:30pm. Candee lives west of town off Klett Ranch Rd. If traveling toward Fredericksburg turn right off of Hwy. 290 at the Felps Trailer Mfg., take a left at the fork in the road. Go about a mile and turn left on Valley West Dr. This loop will take you to the location.

Please call 830-385-9286 if you have any trouble finding the location.

She has been working with 2 goats for about 3 weeks.

All you need to bring is your lawn chair and an open mind.

This is new and different to traditional livestock training.Desirable behavior is usually marked by using a "clicker," a mechanical device that makes a short, distinct "click" sound which tells the animal exactly when they're doing the right thing. This clear form of communication, combined with positive reinforcement, is an effective, safe, and humane way to teach any animal any behavior that it is physically and mentally capable of doing.
Hope to see you there,
Todd Swift
