GOAT FEEDING AND SHOWMANSHIP CLINIC-OCTOBER 19, 2009
This is an excellent opportunity to hear from experts on goat project feeding,
fitting and showing.
Tate Randall with Randall Show Goats and Kevin Mock with Show Rite Feeds will be
presenting information on Managing Your Goat Projects.
This clinic will be held at Tate Randall’s Barn, October 19, 2009 at 6:30 pm.
Mr. Randall’s barn is located on Hwy 290, west of Johnson city, at the Sandy Road
cutoff (Hwy 1320).
*Bring your goat along to practice showmanship if you want to.

Categories include: Main Dish, Fruit & Vegetable, Bread & Cereal, and Nutritious Snacks. You must work personally with Gretchen or a Food & Nutrition project leader to be eligible.
Food Challenge
Modeled after such competitions as the Food Network’s Iron Chef, the 4-H Food Challenge allows teams of 4-H members to create a dish using only a predetermined amount of ingredients. From these ingredients, 4-H members must identify, prepare and then present information related to the serving size, nutritional value, and cost of the dish. Through out this energized process, the 4-H members are demonstrating their culinary and food safety skills to judges and on-lookers.

BROILER ORDER PAYMENTS & DELIVERY DATE
For those of you who ordered Broilers, please mail, or bring your payment to the Extension Office as soon as you can. The chicks cost $1.30 each. Make check out to “County 4-H”. Todd will pick the Broilers up and have them at the Extension Office on December 2nd, for you to pick up (so mark your calendar).

If you have not completed and turned in your 4-H application for the 2090-2010 year, please do so as soon as possible. You can get applications from you Club Manager or from the Extension Office. Don’t forget, if your application is not current in 4-H Connect, you will not be able to compete in ANY 4-H event.
Also, addresses for the 4-H Newsletter are pulled from the 4-H Connect program-so to receive your newsletter in the future, your application needs to be in the 4-H Connect program.

Rabbits
If you are interested in showing rabbits this year, and would like us to add you to the “Find Rabbits List”, please contact our office as soon as possible. Mr. Uecker will again be reserving rabbits from reputable rabbit breeders that have quality show stock. This year’s rabbits will cost $40.00 a piece, with an order usually being 4 rabbits. Payment will need to be made at time you place your order. The rabbits will arrive around Thanksgiving weekend with validation being the first weekend in December. Make sure to review this year’s rule book as a few small changes have been made regarding min and max weight ranges. The Blanco County Youth Stock Show Rule Book can be found on our local website.
*Things to Remember: Time for Breeding Rabbits to have correct age bunnies for the Blanco County Stock Show is:
OCTOBER 11-17TH.
